Two Years!

Wow.  I can't believe how much time has passed since I did a blog post.  I guess the saying goes, time flies when you're having fun (or I guess when you're super busy)!  After Colin and I left San Diego, we went on a road trip across the United States for 10 days then went on a three month extravaganza in Europe.

In August 2015 we came back to reality, or our new reality, residing in Massachusetts.  We found jobs, moved into South Boston into an amazing apartment and started our new normal on the East Coast.   The first year back flew by with doing your typical activities with family and friends (birthdays, bbq's, holidays, niece and nephew little league games), which we had minimal of in San Diego.  In fall 2016 (September 24th to be exact) Colin and I made it official!  We got married and we dropped the Foley part of the #.  Well... I'm meaning to do that.  After our wedding we jet set off to Alaska for our honeymoon!  These past two years have been anything short of unbelievable and I'm hoping to do some recaps of the events to my keeping and for memories.

Hopefully I won't have such a long hiatus in the meantime.

xoxo

Goodbye California

Colin and I are currently in Ireland which means we're already a month out of San Diego.  Obviously creating a blog post about San Diego is something I really wanted to do.  I even imagined having a bunch of posts about each area of San Diego including favorite restaurants, favorite beaches, maybe even a whole post featuring my favorite sunsets.  Unfortunately, since we're already a month out and have completed our tour across the U.S. and are now on our European adventure, all of these "past" posts have been weighing down on me and I've been dreading posting anything but in the current.  What I've decided to do is just a series of lists and photos to help capture the time Colin and I had in San Diego and how we'll miss it terribly.  We started our relationship and life together there and it will always sort of feel like home to us.  Thank you for the fond memories and the great people we met along the way!

Favorite Things about San Diego:
1.  Our friends.  This goes without saying.  We'll miss our friends dearly who still reside in San Diego.  Love you guys.
2.  The weather.  I'll definitely miss never having to bundle up in clothes in the dead of winter.
3.  The sunsets.  Honestly, nothing can ever beat a California Sunset.  It never got old either.
4.  The beer.  San Diego has a huge beer culture.  Some of the best micro/craft beers around.
5.  Ocean Beach.  I'll miss our neighborhood most.  When Colin and I moved there it was mainly just bikers and hippies.  The amount of great restaurants that have opened up in the past few years have been amazing.  We literally lived a block from the beach and every bar/restaurant that we could want was a few steps away.

Favorite Restaurants (Ocean Beach Only):
1.  OB Noodle House (the one on Niagara/Bacon)
2.  Raglan Public House
3.  Shades (breakfast)
4.  Beau-Bo
5.  Southbeach

Favorite Restaurants (San Diego):
1.  The Fish Shop
2.  Cous-Cous
3.  The Sushi Diner
4.  El Indio
5.  El Camino

Favorite San Diego Moments:
1.  The day we got engaged:)  (seriously, best day ever)
2.  4th of July 2014
3.  Our first Thanksgiving, 2010
4.  The night we pulled an all nighter at the beach
5.  Our last weekend in San Diego <3

Photos of 5 Sunsets:
1.  First Sunset taken when moving to San Diego.  September 2010 Ocean Beach.

2.  First Sunset Photo taken with my first nice camera.  My Micro 4/3 that died in Sequoia National Park.  March 2012 Ocean Beach.

3.  Sunset during the California Fires.  This past year has been a really dry season in California and I really hope they have less fires this year coming up but it does not seem likely.  The sunset was stunning none the less.

4.  Sunset to end 2014.  There are a million sunset photos to choose from but this one really means a lot to me.  We ended our last year in California knowingly and got some really great shots on Coronado to say goodbye to the year.

5.  Lastly, this is an obvious one.  The sunset from the night Colin and I got engaged.  Seriously, this day couldn't have been more perfect.  The sunset was stunning.  February 2015.

There's so much I'll miss about California.  Even the west coast in general with all it has to offer.  I'm very excited to move back to the East Coast though to be close to the family and friends I've missed so much over the past few years.  I'm also excited for Colin and I to start a new journey in our life together.  Love you Cali!  We'll be back for a visit and you'll always be our beginning! xo

Now here are a bunch (literally over 100) of photos from our time in San Diego (gathered from my iPhone).  Enjoy!
